Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is a municipality located between Lloret de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols on the Costa Brava. Located in an incomparable setting of Mediterranean nature is surrounded by beautiful coves such as Salions, Futadera, Giverola, Pola, Bonn, Llevadó, d'en Carlos, Figuera and Morisca and beaches such as Gran d'es Codolar and Llorel. Its municipal term is almost completely in the natural reserve of the Massif de Cadiretes that with its 519 meters of altitude conserves a varied Mediterranean vegetation with elements of the Atlantic flora. It can be crossed by marked paths and designed for the practice of hiking and mountain biking.

In the town of Tossa de Mar as well as enjoying the tourist environment that characterizes it, we can stroll quietly while lookig at its multiple monuments and the art from centuries ago among which stand out its walled enclosure of the XIII century that crosses the rocky coastline and encloses The Vila Vella of old houses and streets, emphasizing the Church of San Vicente of gothic style of the XV century and the Old Hospital of San Miguel of the XVIII century. Outside of this enclosure is the neighborhood of the Fishermen of Sa Roqueta and in El Macizo de Cadiretes the old Sanctuary of Sant Grau, not forgetting the ancient origins of Tossa de Mar coded in the 1st century BC., represented by the Roman Villa of the Ametllers, among others. Strolling at night along the beach of La Menuda on the Bay with the views of the Cabo de Tossa and with the walled enclosure of La Vila Vella illuminated in the background, we finished this beautiful tour through one of the most touristic places with more art and history. TOSSA DE MAR AIMS TO BECOME ONE OF THE BIOSPHERE DESTINATIONS AND TO BE PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL CLUB OF SUSTAINABLE DESTINATIONS

The mayor signed last Monday 19 the letter of Commitment to sustainable tourism. The ultimate goal is to obtain the Biosphere Destination certificate, only reached by 21 tourist destinations worldwide.
