Alvaiázere joins the global network of Biosphere Certified sustainable destinations

The Portuguese municipality of Alvaiázere has joined the international Biosphere community of destinations after achieving the Biosphere Certified recognition, highlighting its commitment to sustainable tourism and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The municipality of Alvaiázere, located in central Portugal, is now officially part of the international community of sustainable Biosphere destinations after obtaining the Biosphere Certified distinction. This recognition confirms that the territory has implemented sustainable practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating itself into a global network that promotes more responsible, inclusive, and resilient tourism models.

The achievement of the Biosphere Destination certification was made possible thanks to a collaborative and participatory process involving the Ayuntamiento de Alvaiázere, the private sector, and local citizens.
