Arona approves the Sectoral Tourism Council to ensure communication with the tourism sector

The City Council of Arona approves the Municipal Tourist Council that will establish a direct and fluid contact between the Local Administration and the different actors of the tourist activity, in order to face a well-planned future with guarantees.

The municipality of Arona unanimously approves the creation of the Arona Municipal Tourism Council, a proposal made by the government group, which is proposed as an organ of citizen participation, of consultative, informative and advisory nature, which will be developed with the different entities related to the tourism sector.

Tourism is the main industry of the municipality of Arona and of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, which is why the City Council has considered it a priority to maintain and promote the support instruments that regulate and facilitate its growth.

To this end, coordination between the actors that participate actively in the different links that make up the tourism chain is of vital importance, so that they can participate in the discussion of aspects, norms and actions that affect the tourist transversality of the municipality.

The council has been designed to discuss and make contributions to the General Plan of Urban Planning, thus being able to arrive at a tourism model that suits the general interest of the municipality. In addition, the main objective will be the joint advance of issues related to sustainability and accessibility of the Arona destination, highlighting the `Smart Destination' tourism agenda.

Among its actions, the quality of the tourist offer must be assessed continuously, objectively planning the development of the sector and disseminating the tourist information of the municipality's promotion programs, both nationally and internationally.

Also of note in the council's proposals are the regulation of the complementary tourist offer and how many other topics related to the matter are considered of interest. It is about getting a better tourism development of the municipality, thanks to the relationship of all the agents involved. To achieve the objectives, the coordination and effort of all the sectors involved is required: hotel and extra hotel accommodation, commercial, leisure companies, car rental, tour operators, travel agencies.

A collegiate body of citizen and business participation that will be part of the municipal complementary organization with advisory functions, as well as advice and information, where the local tourism image will be enhanced, differentiating itself from other destinations and highlighting the brand `Arona, Tenerife Sur'.

The Municipal Council of Tourism of Arona will come into force once it has been published in the Bulletin of the Province, in accordance with the provisions of article 192.2 of R.D. 2568/1986 of November 28, which approves the Regulation of Organization, Operation and Legal System of Local Entities.
