Biosphere strengthens its commitment to sustainable youth entrepreneurship in Tenerife (Spain) through the INGENIA program, an initiative that promotes sustainable innovation, young talent, and projects aligned with the Canary Islands Sustainable Development Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A collaboration aimed at generating real impact in the territory.
Biosphere reinforces its commitment to sustainable youth entrepreneurship in Tenerife within the framework of the seventh edition of the INGENIA program, an initiative that promotes projects aligned with the Canary Islands Sustainable Development Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program is supported by the University of La Laguna (ULL), managed by the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL), and funded by the Department of Employment, Education, and Youth of the Island Council of Tenerife, consolidating itself as a benchmark platform for promoting sustainable innovation on the island.
On April 17, 2026, the Boardroom of the Central Building of the Faculty of Education at the University of La Laguna hosted the presentation event of the projects selected for the INGENIA VII 2025–2026 edition before collaborating entities, including Biosphere.

INGENIA is an educational program aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among university and pre-university students, with a special focus on social, environmental, and educational impact in Tenerife.
After six previous editions, the program has supported a total of fifty-five projects related to sustainable development, through a model that combines training, technical support, and funding, enabling student teams to transform their ideas into real solutions.
In the current call, nine initiatives have been selected that address local challenges from an innovative and collaborative perspective. The projects range from sustainable solutions for pest control and efficient water management to proposals related to mental health, cultural heritage, animal welfare, and the improvement of the community environment.
This cross-cutting approach reflects how young talent can actively contribute to territorial sustainability, generating applicable proposals that strengthen the island’s social and economic fabric.

The event included the participation of Patricio Azcárate Díaz de Losada, Secretary General of the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) and CEO of Biosphere, who conveyed institutional support for the program.
During his speech, he noted that support for INGENIA represents “a commitment to young talent in the service of sustainability, an initiative that helps translate major international commitments into concrete projects with real impact in the territory and in the tourism sector.”
Biosphere highlights the strategic value of programs such as INGENIA, which connect the academic sphere with the business community and public institutions, enabling sustainable youth entrepreneurship to find professional support and development opportunities.
This collaboration helps strengthen the practical dimension of sustainability by promoting initiatives that combine innovation, social responsibility, and economic viability.

After seven editions, INGENIA has established itself as a benchmark program in Tenerife, incorporating continuous improvements and strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit of its participants.
Collaborating entities play a key role through mentoring, strategic guidance, and technical support. This assistance fosters the creation of synergies, access to professional networks, and the promotion of actions that enhance the viability and projection of the projects.
The model demonstrates the potential of public-private collaboration to accelerate the transition toward more innovative, competitive, and sustainable development in the territory.
It is no coincidence that initiatives such as INGENIA emerge on an island that has made a strong commitment to sustainability as a strategic axis. Tenerife holds the Biosphere Certified distinction, a recognition that certifies the proper implementation of verified sustainable practices and compliance with commitments aligned with the SDGs.
This recognition reinforces a model that integrates strategies to reduce the environmental footprint of tourism activity and promotes a shared culture of respect for the environment.

With initiatives such as INGENIA, Tenerife is moving toward a model in which sustainable youth entrepreneurship is not limited to imagining solutions, but turns them into projects with tangible impact.
From Biosphere, the commitment to support this process is renewed, promoting partnerships that generate real opportunities and accelerate a sustainable transition both in the tourism sector and across the territory.
The combination of innovation, training, institutional collaboration, and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals positions Tenerife as an example of how young talent can become a driver of transformation toward more balanced, resilient, and sustainable development.

The experience of the INGENIA program in Tenerife demonstrates that sustainable youth entrepreneurship is not only a training tool, but a true driver of territorial transformation. When young talent, universities, public institutions, and the business sector work in coordination, the Sustainable Development Goals cease to be a statement of intent and become concrete projects with measurable impact.
This model, based on public-private collaboration, sustainable innovation, and technical support, is fully replicable at an international scale. Global challenges related to climate change, resource management, social cohesion, and sustainable tourism require local solutions with a global vision, driven by new generations committed to their environment.
Promoting sustainable entrepreneurship programs aligned with the SDGs in different regions of the world contributes not only to strengthening local economies, but also to creating international networks of knowledge, exchange of best practices, and technical cooperation. Sustainability, by its very nature, requires a collaborative and cross-border response.
At Biosphere, we reaffirm our willingness to collaborate wherever our experience can add value. With more than twenty-five years of experience in certification and support for companies and destinations, we offer universities, public administrations, and international institutions our methodology, technical knowledge, and capacity to build strategic partnerships.
Promoting sustainable youth entrepreneurship at a global level means committing to a more resilient, inclusive, and responsible development model. Wherever initiatives that connect talent, innovation, and sustainability are promoted, Biosphere will be ready to contribute, support, and strengthen that path toward a truly sustainable transition.
