Lanzarote, the first destination to benefit from the new Biosphere platform

Lanzarote becomes the first destination of the new Biosphere Sustainable platform. Through this tool, companies from all over the island related to the tourism sector will be able to highlight the different actions they carry out in terms of sustainability. This demonstrates the island's commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals on which the Platform is based. The event was attended by María Dolores Corujo, President and Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

Lanzarote will be the first destination to use the new Biosphere Sustainable platform. A tool designed to implement sustainable solutions at different levels, connecting all stakeholders in the tourism sector and measuring its impact through quantitative and qualitative results.

The event was held at the Casa de los Volcanes de los Jameos del Agua and was chaired by María Dolores Corujo, President and Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. Also present were Tomás Azcárate, President of the Institute for Responsible Tourism, and Patricio Azcárate, Secretary General, as representatives of Biosphere.

In her speech, Corujo emphasized the need to fight against one of the main global problems, climate change. If we consider that 9 out of 10 travelers are looking for sustainable services and companies, the need for such a tool is justified by itself".

The Councilor and the President also invited companies of all kinds directly or indirectly linked to tourism to join this online sustainability management platform. In this way, Lanzarote demonstrates its commitment to the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. By participating in an action plan, it will be possible to compare the efforts made.
