Tenerife awards the Sustainable Practices 2021 prize to six companies of the island at the event 'Tenerife, Sustainable DNA'.

The balance between a quality tourist experience and the conservation of resources in Tenerife's tourism sector companies has been recognised at the "Tenerife Sustainable DNA" event.

Cabildo de Tenerife has recognised Parque Estelar Starlight Camino Barranco Badajoz, Candelaria Town Council, Santa Bárbara Golf and Ocean Club Complex, Pico del Teide Cable Car, Pirámides de Güimar Ethnographic Park and Ecotouristing as the six winners of the Sustainable Tourism Practices competition, which recognises the good work of public and private companies on the island in terms of sustainability.

Specifically, the six recognised companies are classified in the following categories:

Starlight Starlight Starlight Park Sky and Earth Nature Reserve Camino Barranco de Badajoz in the category Best Sustainable Tourism Practice in Nature.

Candelaria, Sabor y Tradición in the category of Best Sustainable Practice in Local Government

Six entities out of a total of 23 took part in the competition, this being its 4th edition, which took place within the framework of the 'Tenerife Sustainable DNA' event, held in the Museum of Nature and Archaeology of the island of Tenerife.

"Thanks to the joint work carried out by Tenerife Tourism with the Tenerife Initiative and Tourism Centres, we have achieved that more and more companies are receiving notions of sustainability and feel advised and supported by the destination to join initiatives of these characteristics that add value to the tourist offer," said the island's director of tourism, Laura Castro.

More than 300 companies have already joined the Biosphere Sustainable platform, in which the Cabildo participates, through Turismo de Tenerife, coordinated by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) to promote the alignment of the island's business fabric with sustainability, the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

From Biosphere and the Responsible Tourism Institute we want to recognise the efforts of all the companies that have already joined the sustainable commitment acquired by the destination and we make a special mention to the six entities that have been awarded on this occasion with this prize.
