Transforming the Future is a social programme that works to generate a positive impact on vulnerable communities near Latin American tourist destinations by improving their skills and entrepreneurship.

The initiative, created by Fundación Plan21 and with the collaboration of Z Zurich Foundation, Universal Assistance and the Responsible Tourism Institute, was chosen as the Best Sustainable Tourism Project at the Tourism Innovation Awards 2023 organised by the Tourism Innovation Summit in Seville.

With the aim of building more sustainable destinations aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations together with Biosphere, the project is moving forward to promote a more responsible tourism model in Latin America, supporting communities in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil.

"We hope that this project will promote more sustainable models in these territories, achieving the survival of their commercial activities, and encouraging the full development of Welfare States for their residents and tourists" says Fabián Román, president of Fundación Plan21.
