As part of the commitment of the Tourism Ministry of Guanajuato (Mexico) to Sustainability, in 2014 launched its Model of Tourism Sustainability, a tool that allows us to include sustainable practices in destinations and organizations in the tourism sector, based In the criteria of sustainable tourism of the Institute of Responsible Tourism to improve the effects of tourism and raise the standard of living of citizens of each tourist destination.
This model aims to promote sustainable practices, improve the effects of tourism and raise the standard of living of citizens of each tourist destination through its three principles: ecological impact, economic impact and social impact.
As part of the actions of the Sustainability Model to ensure that companies providing tourism services began to implement sustainable good practices in their processes, started with the Sustainability Certification Program.
The Responsible Tourism Institute and its "Biosphere Responsible Tourism" label were chosen as the most suitable for the sustainable tourism certification of Guanajuatan companies, after benchmarking the most important labels in the world in Sustainability. The program started in November 2016.
The commitment shown by each of the participating entities, hand in hand with SECTUR, succeeded, which is why last Tuesday, April 25, 2017, the 11 companies that have so far successfully concluded With the certification process, including:

This event was held in the facilities of the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park in order to recognize the effort of the entities that obtained the sustainable tourism certification "Biosphere Responsible Tourism", in order to motivate both the companies that are still in process and the ones that are about to start as well as to sensitize, transmit knowledge and make it easier to identify and carry out the best practices of Sustainability within the tourism sector.
