The second edition of the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards brought together in Dubai the leading international figures in sustainable tourism. Biosphere participated as a collaborator in a gala that recognized companies, destinations, and professionals committed to a responsible, ethical, and innovative tourism model.
On October 29, 2025, Dubai became the world’s sustainability epicenter with the celebration of the second edition of the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards — a ceremony honoring individuals, companies, and destinations transforming the tourism industry with a positive impact.
The gala, held at the iconic Terra – Expo City Dubai, a symbol of innovation and sustainable architecture, gathered international leaders from tourism, hospitality, and sustainability for an evening dedicated to recognizing best practices that are redefining the future of the sector.

The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards 2025 highlighted projects from over 30 countries — from major hotel chains to local community initiatives — demonstrating that sustainability is no longer a trend but the new standard of excellence in global tourism.
During the event, organized in partnership with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, awards were presented across more than 30 international categories, recognizing both technological innovation and responsible management by destinations, businesses, and accommodations.
The ceremony was attended by Patricio Azcárate Díaz de Losada, Secretary-General of the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) and CEO of Biosphere, who took part in presenting several awards.
As an official collaborator of the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, Biosphere reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a more sustainable tourism model aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the ceremony, Patricio Azcárate highlighted that “in a world where the climate emergency and the demand for social justice define the global agenda, sustainability is no longer an option, but the essential framework for achieving fairer and more balanced development.”
He also emphasized that these awards “not only celebrate conscious leadership and verifiable best practices but also promote continuous improvement and give visibility to initiatives of all sizes — from major groups to local projects with a direct impact on their communities.”

Among this year’s top awardees were:
In the individual categories, the Wolfgang Neumann Award for the Sustainability Leader of Tomorrow went to Mariana Domingues (Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon), while Siew Kim Beh (The Ascott Limited) was named World’s Leading Sustainability Leader 2025.

The success of this edition reaffirms the tourism sector’s growing commitment to sustainability, social innovation, and environmental responsibility. The award-winning projects demonstrate that sustainability not only enhances competitiveness and reputation but also generates real benefits for communities and the planet.
Biosphere’s participation in this international event strengthens its role as a global benchmark in sustainable management and certification, reinforcing its mission to support destinations, businesses, and organizations in their continuous improvement process toward a responsible tourism model aligned with the SDGs.
At Biosphere, we celebrate the excellence of all the winners and extend our congratulations to the more than one hundred participating initiatives whose commitment and creativity inspire the shift toward more conscious, fair, and regenerative tourism.
